 In 2007, we produced 273 cases of 100% Syrah from the Page-Nord vineyard in the Napa Valley. The exceptional fruit was picked at dawn and brought to the winery in the same small, yellow bins that were used for picking. Once here, the clusters were gently handled and sorted, de-stemmed and sorted again. The berries were then gravity fed into the fermentation tank and the magic started. Celia Welch, our incredible winemaker, has once again produced a wine of delicious flavors and aromas with a velvety mouthfeel that makes every sip a joy!Celia describes the wine like this: "This ripe, California-style Syrah abounds with aromas typical of the variety: Smoked cherries, sweet pipe tobacco, dried cherries with a hint of bacon fat, and woodsy sage/ oak leaf notes jump from the glass. On the palate, an intriguing combination of sweet and savory notes combines with dark cherries at the entry. The mid-palate shows off the beauty of fruit picked at full ripeness, with a full-bodied, round texture, followed by very soft tannins at the finish. Classic cherry/ smoky fruit flavors linger." There is currently a limit of 12 bottles per household. Only 100 cases will be released through the website. 273 cases were produced. Summer is here, and we can no longer ship Ground to anyone outside of California.
